This dynamic area features modern attractions like the Oslo Opera House, where you can walk on the roof for panoramic views, the Munch Museum, and the new National Library. The city center offers excellent shopping, trendy bars, and top-tier restaurants, all within walking distance. If you have time, consider exploring famous museums and sights beyond the downtown area.

Bike tour from Kjelsås to Krokkleiva (56 km)

The day’s cycling adventure takes you through Nordmarka, a popular forested recreation area north of the city. The ride begins with an uphill stretch, followed by rolling hills throughout the day.

Highlights:
Quiet Gravel Roads: Enjoy peaceful paths away from the city noise.

Bjørnsjøhelvete: A historic timber floating site with a bridge over a deep river gorge. Park your bike at the marked spot, and take a 15-25 minute walk each way to see it.

Kikutstua (Kikut Forest Cabin): A cozy lodge with a café, located in the heart of Nordmarka.

Cycling from Krokkleiva to Jevnaker (45 km)

Continue through Nordmarka on scenic gravel roads and well-maintained trails. The route includes some rolling hills, ending with a long downhill stretch.

Optional Side Trips:
Gyrihaugen: The second-highest viewpoint in the area, offering sweeping views north towards Lillehammer. A hike from Gyrihaugen to the stunning Mørkonga viewpoint is highly recommended.

Ringkollen: The highest viewpoint in Oslomarka at 702 meters. It takes about 20-30 minutes to hike to the summit.

Cycling from Granavollen to Gjøvik (63 km)

Today's route follows parts of the historic King's Road and the Pilgrims Route in Hadeland. From Brandbu, prepare for a long uphill stretch, ascending from 180 to 650 meters above sea level over 10 km. After another climb near Lake Einavatnet, the route flattens out with mostly downhill segments. The final stretch offers beautiful views of Lake Mjøsa, with sights of Helgøya and Nes across the water.

Highlights:
Hadeland Folk Museum: Near Granavollen, this open-air museum at Halvdanshaugen is said to be the burial site of Viking king Halvdan Svarte. The museum features over 30 restored buildings and Sankt Petri Church from 1120.

Røykenvika by Lake Randsfjorden: Enjoy a detour to this area, featuring the popular Lokstallen Røykenvik café and the charming farm shop, Hemlaga på Næs.

Gjøvik: The town offers great dining, shopping, and the Gjøvik Gård, a beautiful park surrounding a historic residence in the city center.

The day starts with a few uphill kilometers, followed by gently rolling terrain. The route partially runs alongside the E6 highway. You’ll cross Lake Mjøsa from Biri to Moelv, then follow the Mjøstråkk cycling route towards Lillehammer. The path includes sections of gravel roads, with optional detours to scenic beaches.
