Explore Vesterålen and Lofoten by bike. From Vesterålen's tranquil coastline with majestic mountains and vast beaches to Lofoten's grandiose mountain formations rising from the sea like mighty watchtowers.
Dreaming of exploring Norway’s most breathtaking landscapes in a truly unique way? Join Discover Norway on an unforgettable cycling adventure through the Lofoten and Vesterålen archipelagos — two of Norway’s most stunning coastal regions. Experience the dramatic beauty of the north as you pedal through majestic mountains, quiet fishing villages, and scenic fjords. This tour combines two of our most popular routes — cycling through the Lofoten Islands and the Vesterålen roundtrip — creating one spectacular journey along Norway’s coastline.
North of Lofoten lies Vesterålen, a peaceful and lesser-known paradise perfect for cyclists who want to escape the crowds. Here you can relax and enjoy the silence as you ride along calm fjords, colorful marshes, and lush cultural landscapes. The terrain offers mostly easy cycling, with impressive mountain peaks and open sea views to the west. Spend extra days in Nyksund and Bø to explore more of the region by bike or on foot. Don’t miss hiking the famous Queen’s Route (Dronningruta) — one of the most scenic trails in Northern Norway.
A cycling holiday in Lofoten is truly an experience of a lifetime. Around every turn, new and awe-inspiring views await — steep mountains rising directly from the sea, green valleys, and white sandy beaches. During the main tourist season, you can expect some traffic, but the natural beauty and atmosphere make every kilometer worth it. Ride through picturesque fishing villages and coastal communities that line your route like pearls on a string. Pause to soak in the authentic atmosphere, enjoy a coffee by the harbor, or taste freshly caught seafood at a local restaurant.
Beyond the stunning scenery, both Lofoten and Vesterålen offer rich coastal culture and history. Visit local museums, art galleries, and craft shops to learn about Norway’s maritime heritage. For active travelers, there are endless opportunities for hiking, kayaking and fishing along the way. Whether you’re an avid cyclist or simply looking for a new way to experience Norway’s breathtaking landscapes, this Lofoten and Vesterålen cycling tour offers the perfect mix of adventure, tranquility, and authentic Norwegian charm.
Book your Vesterålen and Lofoten cycling tour with Discover Norway!

Discover Norway has once again delivered a great holiday. Vesterålen is certainly quieter with fewer tourists than Lofoten but this made it a great place to cycle. On Vesterålen it was also good to have the opportunity for some lovely walking.
